Deadwood is the story of the titular area during its annexation by the Dakotas. Throughout its three seasons, viewers watched Deadwood grow from a modest camp to a full-blown town. The plots of the show brought in many history figures from the era and would often be inspired by real diary entries from the time and place of the setting.
